If you are using a smartphone either iOS based iPhone or any Android phone then you must be knowing how irritating it is to type on it using the small screen keyboard. This experience gets worse if you are in a hurry and need to type down some text on it. To rescue this we definitely need a handwriting service on all these phones.

But since not all the phones come preloaded with this feature we will have to abide by this. Recently Google had announced the launch of its new search feature but only for the smartphones and tablets based on iOS and Android platforms. This feature is called as Handwrite and as the name suggests, with this new feature you can search Google by typing in your own handwriting on your phone/device instead of the small keyboard that takes half of your screen area.

As per Google this feature works the best on the native Android browser on Android 2.3+ phones, Android 4.0+ tablets, and iOS 5+ phones and tablets. So if you have any device that have the mentioned platforms, then you can surely enjoy this feature. However the feature is not enabled by default and you will have to follow the steps below to get this enabled:

• Open on your mobile or tablet browser.

• Tap ‘Settings’ at the bottom of the screen and enable Handwrite option. Refresh the page.

• Now you will see a ‘g’ icon in the right bottom area of your screen. Tapping this will allow you to type in your own handwriting. As soon as you start moving your fingers anywhere over the screen, a blue line will start following which will detect your stroke and search it in Google.

If you don’t like this feature, you can get it disabled back and start using your earlier typing method via keyboard. You can read about this feature in detail at the link mentioned below.

Most of you might not know that actually, the WebPages on a website doesn’t use up much of your network data; in fact it is actually the advertisements and animations on a webpage that use up your most of the data. Since the unwanted content gets removed from the WebPages, it will start loading quickly than before.

To use this service go to the service website form the link given below and enter the address of the webpage that you want to visit. This will lead you to the webpage where you will find only the text content of the webpage without the other distractions.

In fact most of the users use internet to open WebPages on their handheld devices and I know that it costs you much while using mobile network for using internet on your devices. Whenever you want to watch a video on your smartphone, you would definitely head towards the YouTube application installed on your system or on the phone. Then you search for the video and wait for the streaming/buffering of the video. But I personally feel that it is better to download it on your device and then view it as you have the option of saving it for future reference with the same amount of data consumed as it would have been otherwise.

Also because sometimes we have to go through from many annoying issues like buffering, connectivity, coverage problem, data streaming, low Internet speed, etc. Now I am sure you would be thinking that if you have to download it, then why you don’t watch it on your laptop/desktop as you don’t have any option to download a video from YouTube on your Android Device.

But now if you want, you can download videos from YouTube directly on your android phone. A free YouTube Downloader for Android developed by Wontube can be used to download videos easily. When you want to download a video, you have to launch the app and search for the video that you want to download.

Once you find the video, select the video and you will be greeted with two options- ‘Play’ & ‘Download’, you can tap on the download button to get it downloaded. The video will be saved in the app library and you can play it later even when you are offline.

You might be worried if the video will be supported by your Smartphone or not. Then don’t worry as all the YouTube videos can be played easily on your device without converting them. In my view this is the easiest way to download a video on your android device.

I would like to have something that can help me change the default fonts of my cellphone. So if you want to change the font size in your android phone that too without rooting your device, I have really got something great for you. Big Font is a free application that allows you to make the font size smaller or larger without going through any rooting process.

You can scale your device’s fonts from the range 85% to 130% or vice versa. The app is so easy to use that anyone can simply use this application. All you have to do is to install the app and after installation launch it on your device. You will find a slider in the main interface that can be easily moved to and fro.

When you will move the slider to left, it will make the fonts smaller and when you move it to the right, it will increase the font size. A preview of the changes will be shown immediately in the screen itself. Once you feel that the changes are according to your wish, you can click apply to make the changes.

However you can only change the system font size not the size of the fonts of any application. It works on all android devices running Android 2.3 or above. You can download the application from the link given below.

How to Install Incompatible Android Apps from Google Play

July 2, 2012 at 2:45 PM | Posted in Android | 18 Comments

Some Android apps on Google Play claim to be incompatible with various devices. There’s a good chance that these apps will run fine on many of these devices – you can bypass this check with root access.

Some apps won’t actually work after you install them, but many will. This also solves problems with games that will install but refuse to play – for example, Gameloft games with the “this device is incompatible” message.

To perform this hack, you’ll need to root your Android smartphone or tablet. After you do, you should install ES File Explorer from Google Play.

Editing Build.prop

The build.prop file contains a few strings (bits of text) that identify your device model. If you edit this file, Google Play and other apps will think you’re using a different device than you actually are. Be very careful when editing this file – we’ll just be editing a few tiny parts of it. If you edit other parts, you could cause serious problems with your device.

First, launch the ES File Explorer app. Open its Settings screen and enable the Root Explorer and Mount File System options. You may also want to enable the Up to Root option on this screen, so you can easily tap the Up button and navigate to your root directory.

Navigate to the /system/ directory on your device and locate the build.prop file.

You should create a copy of the original build.prop file elsewhere – long-press on it, select Copy, and then Paste it into another folder – say, your /sdcard/ folder.

Now you’re ready to edit the file. Long-press it, select Open As, select Text, and select the ES Note Editor app.

Look for the ro.product.model and ro.product.manufacturer lines. These are the important ones.

Change these lines to pretend your device is another model. For example, to imitate a Nexus S, use these lines:

  • ro.product.model = Nexus S
  • ro.product.manufacturer = samsung

After making this change, tap the menu button and select Save.

Final Steps

Go into the Settings screen, select Applications, select Manage Applications, tap the All category, and select the Google Play app. Clear its cache and data, and then restart your device

Open Google Play and you should be able to download apps that claim they’re not compatible with your device. Games that detect your device should also work, too – Gameloft games seem to be particularly guilty of this. Some apps may still not install or work with your device for other reasons — for example, Google Chrome won’t work on pre-Android 4.0 devices, and some apps may be restricted to certain countries.

While using an android phone, the biggest drawback that I have encountered is that there is no privacy for personal content (at least by default). You do not have any option to lock a particular folder or an application. The only option is to lock your phone as a whole.

Thus if your phone is left unlocked then anyone can access your any applications such as messages, contact, etc. Thus if you also want to protect some of your phone content from friends or family members, now you can do so by encrypting and applying a password to your content. You might be thinking that there is no such option present in our android phones but then too you can be do so by using a third party application.

NQ Mobile vault is what you need. This application allows you to hide your private text messages, photos, videos, private contacts and call logs safely. All you have to do is just download the application from the link given below and run the application.

For the first time when you will run the app, you will be required to setup a desired password and confirm it. After this you will be shown a list of applications from which you can select the applications that you want to hide. Once you select the applications, tap on “Import” button.

NQ Mobile Vault is an easy to use application that is available for free in the Google play store. However if you want to increase the storage capacity of the app so that you can store unlimited text messages or so, then you can purchase premium version for $1.99 USD per month. The app requires android 2.0 or up to run.

The song recorded using this app is saved in mp3 format with its title, genre and other details. Another feature in this app is that it silently records the songs even if the volume is on mute and also supports live recording.

The interface of this app is really very easy to use. An option is also provided on the top right corner in the application that helps you to switch between radio and music player easily. Most of the songs are streamed at the bit rate of 128 kbps or more.

According to us you will find it great to use.
